Abstract

In this article, an evaluation about drug abuse testing in the clinical laboratories was done. Ministry of Health has made arrangements for drug abuse testing in laboratory-related services; according to final tasks from Rule of Medical Laboratories and the National Emergency Action Plan against Drug. Drug abuse testing for the identification of the substance use is one of the most important elements of the fight against drugs. Drug abuse tests are applied in various areas of the medical, forensic and social purposes. Drug abuse testing due to identification of the substance is the tool that can be used as an objective critical evidence for forensic and administrative decision-making process. Drug abuse testing programs for the identification of the substance is created according to the needs. Drug abuse testing strategy is a two-step analysis as screening and confirmation. Drug abuse test parameters are created with mandatory drug panel for screening by adding the test parameters due to needing. In drug abuse testing is used immunochemical methods for screening and instrumental methods for confirmation. If the important issues and limitations in drug abuse testing are known, accurate and reliable results can be achieved with appropriate intervention. The quality requirements in drug abuse testing should be dealt with more firmly. In the clinical laboratory; the regulations and technical issues related drug abuse testing are well understood, no one's going to victims and ensuring a proper functioning is essential to scientific principles.
